Reports: Beltran, Astros strike one- year, $ 16M deal

Multiple outlets reported the Houston Astros and designated hitter Carlos Beltran agreed to terms on a one- year, $ 16 million contract Saturday, but the Astros made no official announceme­nt.

The switch- hitting Beltran, who will turn 40 in April, hit a combined .295 with 29 home runs and 93 RBI last season for the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers. In his career, he is a .280 hitter with 421 homers and 1,536 RBI.

Multiple outlets reported the Arizona Diamondbac­ks and catcher Jeff Mathis agreed to terms on a two- year, $ 4 million contract, pending a physical.

Mathis, 33, hit .238 with two homers and 15 RBI in 41 games last season with the Miami Marlins.

The Seattle Mariners signed left- handed reliever Marc Rzepczynsk­i to a two- year contract.

Rzepczynsk­i, 31, was a combined 1- 0 with a 2.64 ERA in 70 games last season for the Oakland Athletics and Washington Nationals.

HOCKEY Force is with Wolves

Brad Hunt scored twice, Pheonix Copley made 19 saves and the Wolves topped the Iowa Wild 4- 2 in American Hockey League action at Allstate Arena.
