Reports: Beltran, Astros strike one- year, $ 16M deal

Multiple outlets reported the Houston Astros and designated hitter Carlos Beltran agreed to terms on a one- year, $ 16 million contract Saturday, but the Astros made no official announcement.

The switch- hitting Beltran, who will turn 40 in April, hit a combined .295 with 29 home runs and 93 RBI last season for the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers. In his career, he is a .280 hitter with 421 homers and 1,536 RBI.

Multiple outlets reported the Arizona Diamondbacks and catcher Jeff Mathis agreed to terms on a two- year, $ 4 million contract, pending a physical.

Mathis, 33, hit .238 with two homers and 15 RBI in 41 games last season with the Miami Marlins.

The Seattle Mariners signed left- handed reliever Marc Rzepczynski to a two- year contract.

Rzepczynski, 31, was a combined 1- 0 with a 2.64 ERA in 70 games last season for the Oakland Athletics and Washington Nationals.

HOCKEY Force is with Wolves
