Wildcats fight past Nebraska

Scottie Lindsey scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half, and Northweste­rn matched its season high with 11 three- pointers and shot 51 percent on its way to defeating Nebraska 74- 66 in Big Ten action Sunday in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Vic Law added 15 points on five three- pointers and Dererk Pardon 13 for the Wildcats ( 13- 4, 2- 2), who let a 10- point lead late in the first half get away before bouncing back to end amodest two- game losing streak.

‘‘ I think it gives a lot of our confidence back,’’ Lindsey said. ‘‘ We’d lost two straight games, and it’s easy to fold like that. We wanted to come in here and get a big win, and we did.’’

Tai Webster scored 17 points to lead the Cornhusker­s ( 9- 7, 3- 1), who used a 16- 0 run spanning the first and second halves to erase a 10- point deficit and open a six- point lead before having their four- game winning streak broken.

‘‘ One of our better wins, if you consider what Nebraska was playing like,’’ NU coach Chris Collins said. ‘‘ They were the hottest team in our league. For us to come in here and steal one on the roadwas huge for our team.’’

Jalen Hayes scored 20 points and blocked a shot at the buzzer to help the Golden Grizzlies ( 14- 3, 4- 0) edge the Flames ( 8- 8, 1- 2) in a Horizon League thriller at the UIC Pavilion. Oakland set a conference record with 18 blocks.

Tarkus Ferguson had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Tai Odiase 10 points and 13 rebounds for UIC, which shot an abominable 24.3 percent ( 18- for- 74).

Purdue 66, Wisconsin 55

Caleb Swanigan scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and the No. 20 Boilermake­rs ( 14- 3, 3- 1) shot 52 percent en route to beating the No. 13 Badgers ( 13- 3, 2- 1) in Big Ten action inWest Lafayette, Indiana.

Ethan Happ had 17 points and six steals forWiscons­in, which was outrebound­ed 35- 22 and had its nine- game winning streak broken.

Minnesota 78, Ohio State 68

Amir Coffey scored 19 points and Akeem Springs 18, including five threepoint­ers, and the Gophers ( 15- 2, 3- 1) had assists on 20 of their 25 baskets to notch a Big Ten victory against the Buckeyes ( 10- 6, 0- 3) in Minneapoli­s.

Jae’Sean Tate had 20 points and nine rebounds for Ohio State, but he also committed seven turnovers.

Iowa 68, Rutgers 62

Peter Jok scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and the Hawkeyes ( 10- 7, 2- 2) rallied from a nine- point deficit in the second half to slip past the Scarlet Knights ( 11- 6, 0- 4) in Big Ten play in Iowa City.

DeShawn Freeman had 19 points and 13 rebounds for Rutgers, which fell to 0- 21 on the road since joining the conference in 2014- 15.
