Born January 15, 1928 in Chicago, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. She was the third child of Margaret and Walter Stewart Beckenbaug­h. She was predecease­d by her brother, William “Bill” Beckenbaug­h; her sister, Virginia Kuhn and her sister in spirit, Betty Bordes.

After marrying her WWII pen pal, George “Sunny” Gart in 1947 they proceeded to have 5 daughters, Sandra Dettloff, Joy ( Louis) Vernagallo, Pamela ( Joseph) Siepka, Lynne ( Robert) Shields and Audra Gart; loving grandmothe­r of Nicole, Renee, Danielle, Joseph, Georgianne, Audrie, Brett, Bobby and Sean.

Audrey’s chosen vocation in life was to be a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmothe­r. She dedicated her life to each of these with the greatest love and care that anyone could possibly give. Audrey brought her cheerful vibrance to her part time work at Lincoln Park Zoo, Wieboldts and Aetna Bank.

She loved life and enjoyed attending Cubs and Bears games, reading, hosting parties, bowling, dancing, singing and traveling. She served as an election judge for many years. Audrey volunteere­d at St. Josaphat Church serving as a Eucharisti­c and Liturgical Minister. Family and friends were Audrey’s passion and delight. She will be missed deeply but remembered by all whose lives she touched. The family will receive friends and family at

Family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 9: 30 a. m. on Saturday before processing to an 11: 00 a. m. Funeral Mass at St. Josaphat Church, 2311 N. Southport, Chicago.
