Colts owner Irsay boots GM Grigson
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay fired general manager Ryan Grigson after five seasons Saturday. The move came after the Colts missed the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
Irsay hired Grigson after the Colts went 2- 14 in 2011. With No. 1 overall draft pick Andrew Luck leading the way in 2012, Grigson was the architect of one of the greatest turnarounds in NFL history. The Colts went 11- 5 and earned a wild- card berth that season.
The Colts then won AFC South titles in 2013 and 2014 and reached the AFC Championship Game in January 2015 before back- to- back 8- 8 seasons ended Grigson’s tenure.
