Mickelson moves on at Match Play
Phil Mickelson made only two birdies, but he had no mistakes and no trouble in a 6- and- 5 victory over J. B. Holmes at Match Play. Mickelson advanced out of the third round for the first time since 2004. No. 1 seed Dustin Johnson, who had a 5- and- 3 victory over Jimmy Walker, goes into theweekend having led after all 46 holes he has played. Johnson and Alex Noren ( No. 8) were the only top 10 seeds left. Former Penn State president Graham Spanier was convicted of one count of child endangerment over his handling of a child sex- abuse complaint against retired assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
