A person was seriously injured in a constructi­on accident Thursday morning on the Near West Side.

The person fell from the fourth floor to the first floor of a building in the 1400 block of West 15th Street, Fire Media Affairs reported on Twitter at 9: 10 a. m.

The person was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, according to Fire Media.

Car, garbage truck collide; 1 killed, 1 critical

One person was killed and a man was critically injured in a crash early Thursday on the Southwest Side, authoritie­s said.

A car collided with a garbage truck shortly after 4 a. m. on Harlem Avenue near 63rd Street, according to Chicago Police and the Chicago Fire Department.

A passenger in the car was dead at the scene, authoritie­s said. The driver of the car, a man thought to be in his 30s, was taken in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. The driver of the truck was not injured, police said.

3 teens shot in Ford Hts.

Three 17- year- old boys were shot Thursday in south suburban Ford Heights.

At 4: 52 p. m., someone fired shots at a group of people during a fight at Diplomat Lane and Woodland Avenue, according to the Cook County sheriff ’s office.

Three teens were taken to hospitals, the sheriff ’s office said. One boy was in serious condition. The others had injuries that weren’t lifethreat­ening.

Man tries to abduct child from South Chicago park

A man tried to abduct a child who was playing with other children in a South Chicago neighborho­od park Sunday evening.

About 5 p. m., children were playing in Bessemer Park in the 8900 block of South Muskegon when the man grabbed one of them, according to Chicago Police.

The man tried to run away with the child, but the youngster was able to break free, police said. The suspect is a man between 20 and 30, 150- 160 pounds with brown eyes, a short black twist hairstyle and light complexion, police said. He was wearing a red baseball cap, gray sweater and gray pants.

Man shot in Uptown

A 26- year- old man was shot Thursday afternoon in the Uptown neighborho­od on the North Side.

Just after 3 p. m., the victim was in the 1000 block of West Wilson Avenue when he was approached by four people, and one of them shot at him, Chicago Police said.

He was struck in the left thigh and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center. His condition had stabilized.

Man killed, another injured in South Side crash

One man was killed and another injured in a crash Tuesday on the South Side.

A white Chevrolet Impala was speeding south in the 4100 block of South Wentworth at 1: 11 p. m. when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a silver Chevrolet Malibu that was heading west on Root Street, according to Chicago Police.

A passenger in the Impala, Frank Williams, 29, of Greater Grand Crossing, died, according to police, who said he was 19. The Impala driver was injured and taken to a hospital.

Pair charged after Archer Heights shooting

Two men have been charged after a man was shot and seriously wounded early Wednesday in the Archer Heights neighborho­od on the Southwest Side.

Steve Heiddegger, 20, of the Clearing neighborho­od, has been charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance, according to Chicago Police. Ruben Rocha, 20, of the Brighton Park neighborho­od, faces misdemeano­r charges of driving on a suspended license and negligent driving.

At 2: 18 a. m., a 30- year- old man was in a vehicle in the 4600 block of South Keeler when someone fired shots, striking him in the head, police said at the time. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

Three suspects were taken into custody after the shooting, and a weapon was recovered, but the victim was not cooperatin­g with investigat­ors, police said.

A 21- year- old man who was in custody was later released without charges.
