HR leader Thames hurt in Brewers’ win

Major- league home run leader Eric Thames scored twice before leaving with an injury and Orlando Arcia homered and had three RBI, leading the Brewers to a 9- 4 win over the visiting Reds to complete a three- game sweep.

Ryan Braun snapped out of a 5- for- 22 slump with a two- run double and a single off Reds starter Rookie Davis ( 0- 1) and Jett Bandy had three hits and two RBI, helping the Brewers win their fourth game overall against the Reds this season.

Thames, who leads the majors with 11 homers, appeared to be favoring his left hamstring as he stretched before the Reds batted in the eighth.

Nationals 11, Rockies 4

Trea Turner nearly hit for the cycle for a second straight night, finishing a triple shy, and Bryce Harper had four more hits to run his average to .432 as the Nationals beat the host Rockies.

Ryan Zimmerman and Daniel Murphy also went deep for the Nationals, who improved to 8- 1 on their 10- game trip.

Indians 7, Astros 6

Michael Brantley, continuing his comeback from shoulder problems that forced him to miss most of last season, drove in three runs and the Indians defeated the visiting Astros. Brantley had an RBI double in Cleveland’s three- run first inning and added a two- run single in the fifth. Carlos Santana had a tworun double in the sixth for the Indians, who have won six of eight.

Yankees 3, Red Sox 1

Luis Severino ( 2- 1) pitched seven innings of threehit, shutout ball and Aaron Judge celebrated his 25th birthday with a two- run homer and spectacula­r catch, carrying the surging Yankees over the host Red Sox in the longtime rivals’ first meeting this season. It was the 11th win in 14 games for the Yankees after they opened the season 1- 4.

Phillies 7, Marlins 4

Maikel Franco hit his second grand slam of the month, helping the Phillies beat the visiting Marlins for their fifth consecutiv­e win. Freddy Galvis hit a solo shot for the Phillies and Michael Saunders hit a two- run homer in the eighth.

The Mariners placed ace Felix Hernandez on the 10- day disabled list with shoulder inflammati­on. The Mariners also put outfielder Mitch Haniger on the DL with a strained right oblique.

Giants leadoff hitter Denard Span suffered a setback in his recovery from a shoulder injury and was placed on the 10- day disabled list. The Giants also placed shortstop Brandon Crawford on the three- day bereavemen­t list.
