CPS TEACHER ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING GIRL, 16

A Chicago Public Schools teacher was charged Thursday with sexually assaulting a teenage girl over a fourmonth period this year at a South Side school.

Anthony Frontera, 53, was arrested about 3: 45 p. m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Douglas Avenue in Elgin, according to Chicago Police.

Police said Frontera sexually assaulted a 16- year- old girl multiple times between Jan. 1 and May 11. He was charged with two counts of felony criminal sexual assault of a victim between 13 and 17 years old.

A police source said the assault happened at the Chicago Military Academy at Bronzevill­e, 3519 S. Giles Ave. Frontera, of the Belmont Heights neighborho­od, was listed in Chicago Public Schools’ employee position roster published in March, and a website for the Chicago Military Academy lists Frontera as a physics teacher.

3 teens charged with trying to carjack man, 69

Three teens have been charged with trying to carjack a 69- year- old man late Tuesday in the Gage Park neighborho­od.

One 16- year- old boy and two 15- year- old boys were each charged with one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking, according to Chicago Police. Their names were not released because they are juveniles.

The 69- year- old victim was sitting in his parked car with the window down in the 2900 block of West 59th Street at 11: 42 p. m. Tuesday when the three teens approached, police said.

One of the teens, armed with a handgun, struck the victim in the face and pulled him out of the vehicle, police said. As the teens got into the victim’s car, the victim pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the armed teen in the back.

The suspects ran away, police said. Knowing one suspect was wounded, officers went to Holy Cross Hospital, where they found the boys. Ashlee Rezin

Police: Woman killed, boy wounded in shooting

A woman was killed and a boy was wounded Thursday afternoon in an Avalon Park neighborho­od shooting, according to Chicago Police.

An 18- year- old woman and a 17- year- old boy were walking about 2: 30 p. m. when two people walked up to them in the 8100 block of South Kimbark and fired shots, police said. The woman died at Stroger Hospital, police said. The boy was in critical condition. Nader Issa

Woman killed, 19- year- old son wounded in car

A 47- year- old Pennsylvan­ia woman was killed in a shooting that also left her 19- year- old son wounded Wednesday in northwest suburban Schiller Park.

About 11: 50 a. m., officers went to the 9500 block of Lawrence Avenue for a report of shots fired and found a vehicle crashed into a tree, Schiller Park police said.

The woman, Quetcy Benitez, and her son were both found in the vehicle with gunshot wounds, police said. Benitez was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son was treated and released from a hospital. Matthew Hendrickso­n

14- year- old boy among 2 shot in Little Village

Two teen boys were wounded in a Little Village shooting early Thursday.

The boys were driving about 1: 15 a. m. in the 2400 block of South Trumbull when another vehicle pulled alongside them and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

A 14- year- old boy was shot in the foot, and a 17- yearold boy suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back, police said. Both of their conditions were stabilized. Ashlee Rezin

Robberies in Lincoln Park

Police are warning about a series of armed robberies this week in the Lincoln Park neighborho­od.

In each incident, several robbers walked up to victims, produced a handgun and demanded property. The robberies happened: † between 10: 15 p. m. and 10: 30 p. m. Monday in the 2300 block of North Halsted;

† about 10: 15 p. m. Monday in the 600 block of West Webster;

† 3: 35 p. m. Tuesday in the 700 block of West Dickens;

† 10: 22 p. m. Tuesday in the 600 block of West Webster;

† 10: 48 p. m. Tuesday in the 500 block of West Belden; and

† 10: 56 p. m. Tuesday in the 500 block of West Fullerton Parkway.

The suspects are described as four black males between 17 and 20, police said. They were seen driving in a silver vehicle. Tom Schuba
