AREA LAKES: Bluegills bedding in many areas. Pete Lamar: Found more active fish around Cook, DuPage and Kane counties. Bass hitting poppers; bluegills and crappie attempting.

AREA RIVERS: CHICAGO: Capt. Pat Harrison: River fishing tougher after storm drains opened and heat rolled in. Seeing smallmouth ( catching some) when weather allows along Lake Michigan rocks.

KANKAKEE: Norm Minas: River dropping but up. Catfish taking a jig aggressive­ly. Smallmouth taking jig/ plastics; bigger ones on jig and pork. Good action for multiple species in creeks.

BRAIDWOOD: Water temperatur­es were in the 90s for the Fishing for a Cure tournament, which was won by Matt Leimbach and Nick Stuedemann. Their catch included the big bass ( 5.31 pounds).

CHAIN O’LAKES: Triangle: Bluegills are up on the beds. Bass are off the beds. Catfish are picking up. Catching white bass in river and main lake.

DELAVAN/ GENEVA, WISCONSIN: GENEVA: Arden Katz: Outstandin­g panfish ( rock bass, perch, bluegills, pumpkinsee­ds) on drop- shot rigs in 7 to 12 feet in Geneva Bay. Dave Duwe: Some walleye at night in 12 to 15 feet by Abbey Springs or Trinkes Bay. DELAVAN: Duwe: Bluegills are ‘‘ fantastic’’ in and around piers or in 16 to 17 feet outside weed line. Crappie most consistent in 10 to 12 feet.

GREEN/ STURGEON BAYS, WISCONSIN: Howie’s: Bass fishing ‘‘ has been fantastic in recent weeks up and down the Door County peninsula.’’

LAKEFRONT: Perch fishing remains closed through June 15. CHICAGO: Smallmouth are the top shore bite. Capt. Bob Poteshman: Some days catching fish ( mainly coho), some days not. Water dirtied up.

WAUKEGAN: Ted Boska: Coho are hot in 100 feet straight out of harbor; try for bigger ones out deeper.

NORTH POINT: Poteshman: Excellent from Waukegan to Kenosha, Wisconsin, for coho in various sizes. Some days inside the hill, some days on the hill, some days to 200 feet.

LaSALLE: Darryl Turner: Big blues still doing well. Bluegills also good on the east side.

NORTHERN WISCONSIN: EAGLE RIVER: Chamber of Commerce: For walleye, find new weeds and sand flats off spawning areas. MINOCQUA: Kurt Justice: Bluegills ( staging outside spawning areas) and largemouth ( staging or bedding) are very good, smallmouth are good and walleye are ‘‘ oddly scattered.’’ Expect topwater action to ‘‘ explode’’

NORTHWEST INDIANA: Slez’s: Coho good in 140 to 180 feet when weather allows. Some coho and lots of lakers in 90 to 110 feet straight north from Burns Ditch.

ST. JOSEPH, MICHIGAN: Tackle Haven: Through Saturday, coho were very good in 100 to 160 feet. A few steelhead off the pier. Walleye are good in the river. SHABBONA: Lakeside: ‘‘ Ton of catfish lately.’’ Bass are on the beds. Bluegills are going near shore. Crappie have moved toward cribs. WOLF RIVER, WISCONSIN: FREMONT: Guide Bill Stoeger: ‘‘ Best [ white- bass] fishing.’’ On Monday, 30 percent of females still had eggs at Partridge Lake.
