Age 84, Born into Eternal Life on June 10, 2017. Together forever with his beloved wife of 60 years, Helen M. “Holly” Hennessy ( nee Sweeney). Loved and Revered father of Mary Anne ( Daniel) Capron, Joseph ( Kim), John ( Michelle), Thomas ( Lu Ann), Elaine ( Michael) Prendergas­t, Edward ( Catharine) and Robert Hennessy; dearest “Grampy” of Emily ( Greg), Nora ( Adam), Annie ( Scott), Jackie ( James), Ryan ( Amy), Luke, Sara, Sean, Shane, Catherine ( Tim), Matthew, Johnny ( Sarah), Tommy, Kevin, Jake, Joey, Sean, Clare, Quinn, Michael, Maeve, Jack, Eddie, Leo, Mary Helen, Caitlin and Emma. Legendary “The Great One” of Mary Anne, Brian, Danny, John John, Hennessy, Dorothy, Emmett, Eleanor, and Mary; devoted brother of Loretta ( the late Gene) Sheehy, William ( the late Janie) Hennessy, and the late Eleanor, James ( Eileen) Hennessy, Ethelreda ( Del) Harris, Helen ( Sol) Mansky, Bernard ( Carol) Hennessy, Catherine ( Merritt) Hoglund, and Patrick Hennessy; dear brother- in- law of Margaret ( the late Ed) Sweeney; fond uncle of many nieces, nephews, grandniece­s and grandnephe­ws.

Alumnus of Leo H. S. ( 1950), Chicago Teachers College ( 1954), and earned his M. Ed. from DePaul U. He later earned his Doctorate in Education from Nova U. Leo worked tirelessly from the age of 12 to retirement at 78, early on as proud head usher at the Beverly Theater, and also held summer jobs at U. S. Steel, Midway Airport and the Chicago Stockyards. He had a 30- year career in Education. He worked as a teacher, basketball coach and administra­tor at Mendel H. S., Fenger H. S. and Eisenhower H. S. He served as Co- Director of Mendel H. S. Boys Camp. He later served as Deputy Superinten­dent of the Cook County Schools and Assistant Superinten­dent of Illinois Schools. He served 20 years as an Arbitrator for the Illinois Workers Compensati­on Commission. Founding member of Chulucanas Mission Club in support of his friend and mentor, Bishop John McNabb, O. S. A. and Affiliate Member of the Order of St. Augustine. He also served on the Board of Directors for Little Company of Mary Hospital. Fiercely competitiv­e, Leo enjoyed all sports, especially golf.
