-

Cory Spangenberg and Chase d’Arnaud each hit solo homers in the 11th inning, lifting the Padres over the host Brewers 7- 5 in another slugfest.

The teams have combined for 15 home runs in the first two games of the three- game series. The Padres totaled a season- best five homers Saturday, including two by Yangervis Solarte and one by Wil Myers. The Brewers got a homer each from Orlando Arcia, Eric Thames and Keon Broxton. On Friday night, Thames’ game- ending shot in the 10th was the seventh home run of the game.

Solarte hit a two- run homer in the 10th, but Broxton tied it at 5 with a two- run shot in the bottom of the inning.

The clubs also combined for 30 strikeouts, including 19 by the Brewers. Padres starter Dinelson Lamet accounted for a career- high 12 of those punchouts while allowing three runs in six innings.

Astros 7, Red Sox 1

Jose Altuve hit a solo homer and Carlos Beltran had a two- run shot and three RBI for the host Astros. Altuve led off the third with his homer off the train tracks above the left- center field facade, and Beltran followed three batters later with his ninth home run of the season for a 6- 0 lead.

The Astros jumped on Red Sox starter and Cy Young winner Rick Porcello ( 3- 9) for three runs in the first. Altuve had an RBI double, and Brian McCann and Beltran followed with sacrifice flies.

Orioles 15, Cardinals 7

Jonathan Schoop homered twice and drove in four runs and Manny Machado went deep in a sevenrun second inning for the host Orioles, who knocked out Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright after 1‰ innings, his shortest outing in 268 career starts.

“This is the last park you want to pitch in if you’re throwing the ball right down the middle with not much action on it,” Wainwright said.

It was the 11th loss in 16 games for the Cardinals, who got home runs from Paul DeJong, Yadier Molina and Dexter Fowler.

Off the field

Orioles first baseman Chris Davis (. 226, 14 home runs, 26 RBI), who was put on the 10- day disabled list Tuesday with a sprained right oblique, likely won’t be back before the All- Star break.

The Rangers put right- handed starter Andrew Cashner ( 3- 6, 3.50 ERA) on the 10- day disabled list Saturday with a strained left oblique.

The Twins signed shortstop Royce Lewis, giving the first overall pick in the draft this week a $ 6,725,000 bonus, the most for a prep player since the new compensation system began five years ago.

Pitcher- first baseman Brendan McKay of Louisville, who was drafted by the Rays with the fourth overall pick, won the Dick Howser Trophy as the top player in college baseball. AP
