PERCH: CHICAGO: Park Bait: Action is good but have to work for keepers. Henry’s: Mostly smaller ones, but heard of one 1 ½ - pounder mixed in. WAUKEGAN: Salmon Stop: Marking fish, not catching. NW IND.: Slez’s: Decent west of Burns Ditch, outside of mud line in 20- 28 ft.; and east of donut and around Dunes State Park in 20- 35, boats moving did best. SW MICH.: Tackle Haven: Good catches, limits of quality fish in 35- 40 north and south of pier heads.

AREA RIVERS: Considerin­g the forecast, best to check daily water levels; but last weekend was the best for general wading. CALUMET: The intensive Asian carp quest is finished. KANKAKEE: Best wading levels of the year; Rock Creek was packed Saturday. Norm Minas: Working tributarie­s; a Beetle Spin did best by weed clumps.

KANKAKEE NOTE: Glamor fish for Kankakee River Fishing Derby ( kankakeefi­shingderby. com), which ended Sunday, was the 9- 6 walleye caught by Kyle Plein of Momence.

CHAIN: Triangle: Bluegill are around docks or weed lines; catfish are best around bends in the river; some quality bass, including a 5- pounder in tournament; big crappie suspended by drop- offs or weed lines; walleye are best around bridges or current. DELAVAN/ GENEVA, WIS.: GENEVA: Arden Katz: Most bass are around the inside turns of points and secondary points in 12- 15 ft. on drop- shot rigs; panfish remain good in 12, but now they take weeding out smaller. Dave Duwe: Lakers (“fantastic’’ in main lake basin) and largemouth ( outside weed lines in 16- 19) are top bites; walleye are good at night ( midnight to 3 a. m.). DELAVAN: Duwe: Best are bluegills (“fantastic’’ in 15- 17 ft.), largemouth ( deeper weed lines in 15- 19) and crappies ( mid- weed line in 12- 15). LAKEFRONT: Perch at top. CHICAGO: Capt. Bob Poteshman: Nice band of coho ( and a few browns and lakers) from Lake Forest to Indiana, in 40- 80 ft., south of city is better than north. WAUKEGAN: Salmon Stop: Nice coho, a few kings and some steelhead, straight out in 40- 60 or 70- 120; Ted Boska: Slowed, but some small coho and a few steelhead before sunrise in 60 ft.; bigger fish ( especially lakers and a few kings and bigger coho mixed in) in 180. NORTH POINT: Poteshman: Some giant coho, but not numbers, a few kings, some lakers and a few steelhead inside hill to 160.

NW IND.: Perch at top. Slez’s: Coho good in 60- 80 ft.; west from East Chicago; steelhead good on Trail Creek on shrimp, crawlers and spawn sacks, but flies and spinners taking fish, too; pier steelhead, hit- and- miss.

ST. JOSEPH, MICH.: Perch at top. Tackle Haven: Salmon good in 80- 150, straight out; weather limited pier action; river giving up some walleye, smallmouth and the occasional big flathead.
