Five- time champion Venus Williams reached the Wimbledon semifinals for the 10th time by beating French Open champion

Jelena Ostapenko 6- 3, 7- 5 on Tuesday in London.

The 37- year- old Williams will face sixth- seeded Johanna Konta, the first British woman to advance to the semifinals at the All England Club since Virginia Wade in 1978.

On the men’s side, secondseed­ed Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarterfin­als despite being hampered by a right shoulder injury.

Lauvergne to join Spurs

The Spurs agreed to a two- year contract with former Bulls center Joffrey Lauvergne. ◆ The Lakers agreed to a one- year, $ 18 million contract with Kentavious Caldwell- Pope. They also are still trying to find a way to sign former Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo. ◆ Former Spurs center Dewayne Dedmon agreed to a two- year, $ 14 million deal with the Hawks. ◆ The Knicks agreed to a two- year, $ 8.9 million deal with second- year guard Ron Baker. ◆ The Cavaliers signed veteran forward Jeff Green.

Tocchet to coach Coyotes

The Coyotes hired Rick

Tocchet as their head coach, replacing Dave Tippett, who parted ways with the franchise after last season.

The 53- year- old Tocchet, who spent the last three seasons as a Penguins assistant, played 18 seasons in the NHL and helped the Penguins win the Stanley Cup in 1992.

Jordan part of Marlins bid

With the bidding on the Miami Marlins still taking place, former Yankees star Derek Jeter has brought Michael Jordan onto his team.
