9 DEAD, 1 MISSING IN ARIZONA FOLLOWING FLASH FLOODING

A flash flood in a swimming hole north of Payson killed nine people Saturday, and left several more missing, officials said Sunday.

The Gila County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about flooding at a swimming hole known as Cold Springs near the Water Wheel campground in the Tonto National Forest.

Water Wheel Fire and Medical District Fire Chief Ron Sattelmaie­r said more than 100 people were in the Cold Springs swimming hole when a severe thundersto­rm pounded a nearby remote area that had been burned over by a recent wildfire. ISRAEL REOPENS HOLY SITE 2 DAYS AFTER DEADLY ASSAULT

Hundreds of Muslim worshipers visited a Jerusalem holy site Sunday as Israel reopened the compound after a rare closure in response to a deadly shooting last week that raised concerns about wider unrest.

For the first time in decades, Israel closed the site — known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as the Temple Mount — on Friday after three Arab citizens of Israel opened fire from the sacred site with automatic weap- ons, killing two police officers. The attackers were shot dead inside the compound.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the site would with increased security measures, including metal detectors and additional security cameras.
