Age 87, formerly of LaGrange, passed away on July 19, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Virginia ( nee Klockowski). Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine ( nee Lunk) and Leo Kozicki; stepmother, Genevieve Kapanowski; brother- in- law, the late Alfred ( Lillian) Klockowski; and sister, the late Rita ( the late Michael) Trojaniak; cherished uncle of Carol ( Zenon) Nie, Patricia ( the late Tom) Setlik, Kathy Prochot, Karen ( Doug) Kelly and Cindy ( Tom) McHugh; dear greatuncle to Dr. Jen Setlik, Mary Setlik, Andrea Nie, Tom Setlik, Christophe­r Prochot, Matthew Prochot, Kevin Kelly, Meagan Kelly and Ryan Kelly; devoted friend to the late Jean Kraujalis, Kevin Kraujalis and family, and Denise ( Darren) Kraujalis- Meyers and family. Special thanks to Laura Bethke.

Leon was a U. S. Army Korean War veteran, musician, band leader, radio DJ, co- founder of the Internatio­nal Polka Associatio­n and Member of The American Legion Robert E. Coulter Jr. Post # 1941. Employed by Cook County Juvenile Detention Center for 32 years. He had a zest for life and will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 24 from 3: 00 p. m. until 9: 00 p. m. at Hallowell & James

Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countrysid­e. Funeral Tuesday, July 25, with prayers to begin at 9: 15 a. m. from the chapel and proceed to St. Cletus Church, LaGrange for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10: 00 a. m.
