Fire fall to Sporting KC

Daniel Salloi scored one goal and assisted on another to spark Sporting KC to a 3- 2 victory Saturday against the visiting Fire in Major League Soccer action.

Salloi opened the scoring with a goal in the 23rd minute, then assisted on a goal by Latif Blessing in the 51st that gave Sporting KC a 3- 1 lead. Benny Feilhaber also scored for Sporting KC.

Matt Besler was credited with a goal when Sporting KC put a ball into its own net in the 28th minute, and David Accam scored on a one- timer off an assist from Patrick Doody in the 78th for the Fire ( 11- 5- 5).

Matt Lampson made six saves for the Fire.

SWIMMING Dressel sets swim mark

U. S. star Caeleb Dressel became the first swimmer to win three gold medals in a day at a world championsh­ips or an Olympics by doing so at the worlds in Budapest, Hungary.

Dressel, 20, won indi- vidual golds in the 50- meter freestyle and the 100- meter butterfly and a team gold in the 4x100- meter mixed freestyle relay. He has won six golds at the worlds so far and will be a virtual lock to win a seventh when he takes part in the 4x100- meter medley relay Sunday.

NFL Bortles throws five INTs

Jacksonvil­le Jaguars quarterbac­k Blake Bortles threw five intercepti­ons — three in 11- on- 11 drills and two more in seven- on- seven work — in his worst training- camp outing in four years. It was the Jaguars’ first practice in full pads and came before a full house of season- ticket holders.

Atlanta Falcons receiver Devin Fuller will miss the upcoming season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee suffered during practice Friday. Fuller sat out all of last season with a shoulder injury suffered during camp.

The Los Angeles Char- gers put rookie receiver Mike Williams on the physically unable- to- perform list with a herniated disk in his lower back suffered on the first day of the team’s offseason program.

The Detroit Lions put defensive lineman Ziggy Ansah on the physically unable- to- perform list but didn’t say what his injury was. He had 14.5 sacks for the Lions in 2015 but only two last season.

GOLF Hoffman leads in Canada

Charley Hoffman shot a 7- under- par 65 to grab a one- stroke lead over Kevin Chappell after the third round of the Canadian Open in Oakville, Ontario. Hoffman completed 54 holes at 17- under 199.

Bernhard Langer shot a 6- under 65 to open a fourstroke lead over Corey Pavin after the third round of the Senior British Open in Bridgend, Wales. Langer finished 54 holes at 5- under 208.
