WR Landry eyed in domestic incident

NFL NOTEBOOK

-

Miami Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry is being investigated for possible domestic battery, officials said Monday, an allegation his girlfriend called a fabrication.

A spokesman for the Broward County ( Florida) State Attorney’s office said in an email that the allegations were under review and that no decision has been made about whether Landry will be charged.

Estrella Cerqueira, who is the mother of Landry’s daughter, said in a statement that the couple had a ‘‘ vocal disagreement’’ in March but that she never felt physically threatened and that nothing violent took place. She said someone else she didn’t identify called police.

‘‘ I would like to make it very clear that Jarvis would never, ever do anything to harm me or anyone else,’’ Cerqueira said. ‘‘ Jarvis and I are happily raising our beautiful daughter, and I would like to make a plea to the media that they refrain from spreading this completely false story.’’

Bills sign WR Boldin

The Buffalo Bills signed free agent Anquan Boldin to a one- year contract to add a veteran presence to a mostly young and untested group of wide receivers. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.

Boldin is scheduled to begin practicing Tuesday. The Bills had been recruiting him for the last month, including having him visit their headquarters recently.

The 36- year- old Boldin, who is entering his 14th season, showed he’s still capable of making an impact while playing last season for the Detroit Lions. He had 67 catches for 584 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games.

Jets lose WR Enunwa

New York Jets receiver Quincy Enunwa has a bulging disk in his neck that likely will require surgery and sideline him for the season.

Coach Todd Bowles said that Enunwa will seek a second opinion but that he is facing a recovery time of six to nine months. The injury isn’t considered career- threatening, but Bowles said Enunwa will go on injured reserve.

DT Wilfork calls it quits

Former New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork, 35, announced his retirement on a video that showed him untaping his ankles, hanging up his cleats, grabbing grilling tongs, cooking ribs and smoking a cigar.

‘‘ No more cleats,’’ he said in the video. ‘‘ I’m moving on to smoke meats, fellas. Peace out. I’m outta here. Later.’’
