Multiple outlets reported Friday that Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill will have surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will miss the season. The Dolphins had no comment about the reports.

Tannehill, who missed the last four games of last season with two sprained ligaments in the knee but decided not to have surgery during the offseason, reinjured the joint a week into training camp Aug. 3. The Dolphins consulted with specialists before deciding with Tannehill that surgery was the best option, the reports said.

Former Bears quarterback Jay Cutler agreed to delay his broadcasting career with Fox and signed a one- year, $ 10 million contract Monday to replace Tannehill. He might make his Dolphins debut in their second preseason game Thursday.

The Buffalo Bills shook up their roster with two trades, dealing receiver Sammy Watkins to the Los Angeles Rams for cornerback E. J. Gaines and acquiring receiver Jordan Matthews from the Philadelphia Eagles for cornerback Ronald Darby.

The Bills also continued stockpiling 2018 draft picks by getting a second- round selection from the Rams and a third- rounder from the Eagles.

Multiple outlets reported Washington Redskins linebacker Trent Murphy ( left knee), Dolphins linebacker Raekwon McMillan ( right knee) and Denver Broncos nose tackle Billy-Winn ( right knee) will miss the season with torn ACLs suffered in their teams’ preseason openers Thursday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars released left tackle Branden-Albert, ending a saga inwhich he told coach Doug-Marrone he planned to retire, then changed his mind and tried to return several days later.
