Louisville appeals NCAA penalties

-

Louisville appealed the sanctions the NCAA handed it this year stemming from a scandal in which an escort alleged a former team staffer hired her and other dancers for sex parties with recruits and players from 2010 to 2014.

In its appeal, Louisville said the NCAA abused its authority by imposing ‘‘ draconian’’ penalties. The NCAA vacated up to 123 victories in which ineligible players received improper benefits and suspended coach Rick Pitino for failing to monitor the former staffer.
