Vikes QB Bradford limited in practice, feeling better

- Sun- Times wires

Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford said his left knee is feeling better, raising the possibility he’ll return after a one- game absence. The Vikings host the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Bradford returned to practice Wednesday on a limited basis. He was limited last week before the Steelers game, which the Vikings lost 26- 9 with Case Keenum under center. Bradford said there has been “a lot of work over the past week just trying to make sure that the swelling is out.”

Bradford said he hurt the knee without contact in the season opener against the Saints, when he had a career- best 143 passer rating in a 29- 19 victory. Bradford has twice had his left anterior cruciate ligament surgically repaired.

Packers’ injury report lengthy

The Packers listed 13 players on the injury report in advance of their home game Sunday against the Bengals. Defensive lineman Mike Daniels ( hip) and cornerback Davon House ( quad) were among the players who left the Packers’ 34- 23 loss to the Falcons. Pass rusher Nick Perry ( hand) was a new addition.

Also on the report are receivers Jordy Nelson ( quad) and Randall Cobb, both of whom left the game. Initially removed with a shoulder injury, Cobb was listed with a chest injury. The Packers already were without left tackle David Bakhtiari ( hamstring) and right tackle Bryan Bulaga ( ankle).

Bulaga and Nelson were full participants in practice. Nelson likened his injury to a charley horse.

Sherman: NFL aids gamblers

Richard Sherman again took shots at the NFL, saying the injury reports that teams are required to produce each week are simply to help set point spreads on games.

“I thought we weren’t a gam- bling league and we were against all those things,” he said. “But our injury report is specifically to make sure the gamblers get their odds right.”

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the injury report is a decades- old policy to ensure accurate information is provided to other teams and the public.

“It is designed for competitive fairness purposes and curtails the potential for someone to attempt to gain and exploit inside information,” McCarthy said in an email.

Report: Goodell will get deal

The issues NFL ownership has had regarding commissioner Roger Goodell’s contract extension have been resolved and the deal is “getting papered right now,” a source familiar with the negotiations told ESPN.

DeMaurice Smith was reelected as executive director of the players’ union in a special committee vote.
