With a slight tilt of his helmet, Lake Zurich cornerback Anthony Mangano got a look at one tall task Friday in Gurnee.

Standing opposite the 5- 11 Mangano was Warren’s 6- 5 Micah Jones. Through four weeks, the Notre Dame- bound receiver had caught 26 passes, five of them for touchdowns.

‘‘ There aren’t many receivers that look like him when you’re watching film,’’ Lake Zurich coach Luke Mertens said of Jones. ‘‘ But what makes [ Warren] so dangerous is that they can get you either way, through the air or on the ground.’’

The Blue Devils hit the Bears with a 50- yard ‘‘ Hail Mary’’ pass from Ian Schilling to Ricky McLaughlin on the final play of regulation to tie the score, but Joey Stutzman’s six- yard touchdown run in the second overtime lifted Lake Zurich to a 41- 35 victory.

Bears quarter back Evan Le wandow ski threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns, all to Payton Powell, who caught a 10- yard bullet from Lewandowski on the first play of overtime to give Lake Zurich a 35- 28 lead.

Schilling passed for 364 yards for Warren, but he was intercepted three times.

The Bears, who entered the North Suburban Conference showdown having allowed only 16 points, improved to 5- 0 overall and 3- 0 in the conference.

The Blue Devils ( 3- 2, 2- 1), who had their three- game winning streak snapped, provided Lake Zurich with its toughest conference test of the season, and the game lived up to the hype.

The Bears looked to be in great position to win in regulation after Lewandowski hit Powell for an 11- yard touchdown with 53 seconds left, butWarren responded with its ‘‘ Hail Mary’’ to force overtime.
