PLOT AGAINST NEW YORK CITY VENUES THWARTED, FEDS SAY

Three Islamic State group sympathize­rs plotted to cause bloodshed at New York City concert venues, subway stations and Times Square before U. S. agents thwarted the plot, authoritie­s said Friday.

One of the defendants, Abdulrahma­n El Bahnasawy, was arrested after traveling from Canada to New Jersey in May 2016 to stage the attacks, authoritie­s said.

The Canadian citizen was captured after an undercover FBI agent posed as an Islamic extremist.

TRUMP REACHES OUT TO DEMS ON HEALTH CARE OVERHAUL

President Trump tweeted Saturday that he has reached out to the Senate’s top Democrat to explore a deal on a “great HealthCare Bill.”

Trump said Obamacare was “badly broken.” Sen. Chuck Schumer, D- N. Y., downplayed Trump’s outreach, saying the offer was aimed at dismantlin­g the Affordable Care Act — a non- starter for Democrats.

“The president wanted to make another run at repeal and replace and I told the president that’s off the table,” Schumer said. “If he wants to work together to improve the existing health care system, we Democrats are open to his suggestion­s.”

JUDGE AGAIN OVERTURNS ABORTION LIMITS IN OKLAHOMA

An Oklahoma judge has again overturned a state law restrictin­g women’s access to drug- induced abortions, according to attorneys for the state and for the groups challengin­g the law.

Oklahoma County District Judge Patricia Parrish on Friday overturned a 2014 state law that banned “off- label” use of a medication used for abortions. Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter and the governor’s office said they’ll appeal.
