MORE NFL: Cowboys RB Elliott gets another reprieve, will play Sunday,
Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was granted another legal reprieve Tuesday in his fight to avoid a six- game NFL suspension stemming from allegations of domestic violence.
A federal judge in New York granted a temporary restraining order blocking the NFL’s suspension and clearing Elliott to play Sunday against the 49ers.
U. S. District Judge Paul Crotty’s ruling came five days after a federal appeals court overturned a Texas court’s injunction that had kept Elliott on the field this season. Crotty granted the request for the order, pending a hearing before presiding judge Katherine Polk Fialla.
The NFL put Elliott, who led the league in rushing as a rookie last season, on the suspended list Friday, a day after the ruling from an appeals court in New Orleans.
