MAN CHARGED IN SHOOTING THAT KILLED WOMAN, WOUNDED ANOTHER

Deshawn Brown, 23, has been charged with first- degree murder and attempted murder after one woman was killed and another was critically wounded in a shooting Friday night in south suburban Harvey.

Teyatta Holmes, 19, and a 22- year- old woman were sitting in a car and talking with two other males when one of them opened fire on the two women, according to Harvey spokesman Sean Howard.

Holmes, a Lansing resident, was shot in the head and killed. The other victim suffered a gunshot wound to the body and remains in “critical but stable” condition at a hospital, Howard said. Sun- TimesWire

Electricia­n working near road fatally struck by car

An electricia­n was fatally struck by a car last week in north suburban Park City.

Matthew Paulson, 28, was working on the side of the road near his parked vehicle on Greenleaf Street near Lake Park Avenue just before 11 a. m. Thursday, according to Park City Police ChiefWalte­r Holderbaum. A southbound 2012 Chevrolet Malibu left the road and struck Paulson and his truck. The Malibu continued south and flipped over after striking Paulson, Holderbaum said.

The driver of the Malibu, a 23- year- old man, was treated at a hospital and released. No charges had been filed as of Tuesdaymor­ning, Holderbaum said. Jordan Owen

Police: Report of gun in Schaumburg a ‘ misunderst­anding’

A call of a man with a gun Tuesday morning that forced the lockdown of an office complex in northwest suburban Schaumburg was a “misunderst­anding,” according to police.

About 10: 50 a. m., someone reported seeing a man with a gun inside theWoodfie­ld Corporate Center in the 200 block of North Martingale Road, Schaumburg Police Sgt. Christy Lindhurst said.

The incident was a “misunderst­anding,” Lindhurst said. Maintenanc­e workers had a piece of equipment that looked like it could be a gun. Jordan Owen

Charges filed against would- be robber

Juwan Nickson, 19, has been charged with trying to rob another man with a pellet gun before the victim shot him multiple times with a handgun early Sunday in the Oakland neighborho­od on the South Side.

About 1: 20 a. m., a 23- yearold man was walking into his home in the 500 block of East 38th Street when Nickson walked up behind him, announced a robbery and pulled out what appeared to be a gun. The older man took out his own handgun and fired shots, police said.

Nickson suffered gunshot wounds to the lower back and abdomen and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said. He was then taken into custody. Sun- TimesWire
