Satalic, John Arthur

-

Age 89, late of Chicago, loving brother of Wilma, the late Edward “Murphy,” the late Walter “Babe” ( late Jeanne) and the late Frank “Sam” ( late Katheryn); loving uncle of Anthony, Craig, Donald, John and Marcel; and many grand- nieces and grand- nephews. He was born on July 24, 1928 in South Chicago to Samuel and Anna ( Burin) Satalic and lived there his entire life, except for service in the United States Army during the Korean War, until moving to St. Mary’s Home of the Little Sisters of the Poor in September of this year. He attended John L. Marsh Elementary School and Bowen High School. He worked as a boilermaker master welder for 41 years and was a proud member of Local 374 of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Shipbuilders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers. He often said that he took pride in the fact that his first welding work was in a shipyard producing ships for use in World War II.

He was a caring, quiet and loving man who was devoted to his family. He worked hard to support his sister Wilma and helped, in ways too numerous to list, to raise her son John. They are both eternally grateful to him. He was an accomplished amateur artist throughout his life and loved the outdoors, especially the lakefront. He was greatly loved and respected by his family and will be dearly missed.

Services and Interment will be privately held. His family requests that gifts in his honor be directed to the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Mary’s Home in Chicago, in gratitude for the exceptional care that he received.
