Vandervort, Harold Clark

( 1945- 2017) Born in San Francisco on February 17, 1945 to the loving parents Margaret Daphne and Clark Ezell Vandervort.

As the son of a career military man he spent his childhood growing up with his brother Michael all over the world, including Okinawa, Japan, which he often shared fond memories of.

Van, as he was known to almost everyone, also joined the Navy and saw many places throughout the world. He earned four medals and was honorably discharged. He also served in the Navy reserves.

Worked as a clinical engineer at Rush Presbyteri­an St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago and in Informatio­n Technology at ServiceMas­ter ( later Aramark) until his retirement.

Spent his retirement enjoying reading, spending time with his family, friends and neighbors, working on his computer, exploring his new gadgets and driving his very special car.

He generously donated his body to Anatomical Gift Associatio­n.

Survived by brother, Michael Dean and niece Deena Michelle; daughter, Denise Marie Vandervort and grandson Richard Cruz Jr.; son, Stephen Michael Vandervort, wife Amanda and grandson Alex, granddaugh­ters Rebecca and Jessica; former wife, Barbara.

Visitation Saturday, November 11th at Saint Martin’s Episcopal Church in Des Plaines from 9: 00 a. m. - 11: 00 a. m. Mass immediatel­y following at 11: 00 a. m.
