Retired history teacher at Kenwood Academy, passed away unexpected­ly at home, November 3, 2017.

After graduating from Hyde Park H. S., earning his B. A., M. A., and Ph. D. in History from University of Chicago, and subbing at DuSable H. S., Michael began his 30 year teaching career at Kenwood, where he pioneered the “Law in American Society” program, training students to be attorneys, pages, and legislator­s. Every March he took students to Springfiel­d for Mock Legislatur­e and Supreme Court Sessions.

Post- retirement election judge, census- taker, and volunteer at Peggy Notebeart Museum, Illinois Masonic Hospital, and North Pond.

Survived by son, Martin Teller of Portland, OR; brother, Stephen Teller of Pittsburg, KS; nephew, James Teller of Kansas City, MO; and his dear friend of many years, Helen E. Baker.

Preceded in death by daughter, Rachel Teller and parents James, Henry David Teller and Florence Elizabeth Morris Teller. Former spouse of Joan Wagner of Portland, OR.
