Leron Black scored a careerhigh 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Illinois squandered most of a 15- point lead with 4 ½ minutes left before holding off TennesseeM­artin 77- 74 on Sunday in Champaign.

The Illini ( 2- 0), who also got 13 points from Mark Smith, led 71- 56 before the Skyhawks closed the game with an 18- 6 burst. TennesseeM­artin had two chances to tie the score in the last minute but failed.

Aundre Jackson scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help Loyola coast past Division III Eureka 96- 69 at Gentile Arena. Ben Richardson and Marques Townes also scored 14 points, Cameron Satterwhit­e 12 and Donte Ingram 10 for the Ramblers ( 2- 0).
