Roethlisberger, Brown lead Steelers to fifth straight win

-

Ben Roethlisberger threw for 299 yards and four touchdowns, three to Antonio Brown, and the Steelers pulled away from the visiting Titans 40- 17 on Thursday.

Running the no- huddle offense extensively for the first time all season, Roethlisberger completed 30 of 45 passes to help the Steelers ( 8- 2) win their fifth straight.

Brown caught 10 passes for 144 yards and the three touchdowns, including an acrobatic grab in the back of the end zone on which he pinned the ball to his helmet before bringing it in to put Pittsburgh up 20 in the fourth quarter.

Marcus Mariota ran for a touchdown and threw for another but also was picked off four times as the Titans ( 6- 4) saw their four- game winning streak come to a crashing halt. Mariota was 22- for- 33 for 306 yards but was under pressure most of the night, absorbing five sacks and rarely finding room to move outside of the pocket.

Owners to meet on Goodell deal

When the NFL convenes for its Dec. 13 meeting in Irving, Texas, there reportedly will be an ownersonly session that will deal with the impending extension for commis- sioner Roger Goodell.

The session was scheduled after Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones requested a special meeting in front of the full ownership group Nov. 28 in New York. Jones’ meeting request was denied, but owners will make time for a session two weeks later in Irving, sources said.

Rodgers takes step forward

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers returned to the practice field on Wednesday. Rodgers took a few snaps off to the side for the first time since breaking his collar- bone against the Vikings on Oct. 15.

Rodgers didn’t throw and can’t be a participant in official practices for two more weeks under the NFL’s injured- reserve rules.

Fitzgerald to sign extension

Larry Fitzgerald and the Cardinals are closing in on a one- year extension that would keep the veteran wide receiver in Arizona through the 2018 season.

The 34- year- old Fitzgerald ranks in the top 10 in the league in receptions ( 60, second overall) and yards ( 677, seventh).
