PERSON SHOT BY SECURITY GUARD IN BRONZEVILLE
A man was shot by a security guard Thursday afternoon in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.
The 22- year- old was shot in the chest by the guard at 3: 42 p. m. in the 300 block of East 47th Street, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Man in Logan Square carjacked, pistol- whipped
A man was carjacked and pistol- whipped Thursday afternoon in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
At 12: 10 p. m., the male was in the alley in the 2400 block of West Fullerton when two men armed with handguns approached him, according to Chicago Police.
The men struck him in the face with a gun, then got into his vehicle and headed east on Fullerton, police said.

Police: Man robbed 3 Loop stores, parking garages
Police are searching for a man who has robbed three parking garages and convenience stores this week in the Loop.
Each time, the man entered the business, implied he had a weapon and demanded money from the register, according to Chicago Police. The robberies happened: † at 5: 57 a. m. Sunday in the 100 block of North Franklin;
† at 1: 40 a. m. Sunday in the 300 block of South Federal; and
† at 12: 50 a. m. Tuesday in the 0- 100 block of West Jackson.
The suspect is described as a black man between 25 and 35, 5- 6 and 5- 8 and 160 to 190 pounds, police said.

Man shot on I- 290
A man was wounded in a shooting early Thursday on the Eisenhower Expressway on the Near West Side.
The shooting happened about 4: 20 a. m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 290 when someone fired shots from a dark- colored vehicle between Ashland and Racine avenues, according to Illinois State Police.
A man, who was a passenger in a vehicle that the shots were fired at, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound, State Police said. His injuries were not believed to be life- threatening.
Westbound lanes were closed between Ashland and Racine but reopened about 5: 50 a. m., police said.

Lombard home burns while family out shopping
A fire Wednesday night in west suburban Lombard left a house uninhabitable, but no injuries were reported.
Firefighters were called about 8: 30 p. m. to a home on fire in the 1100 block of School, according to the Lombard Fire Department.
The house was in flames when crews arrived and a vehicle was on fire next to the home, the department said. The fire was put out in about 45 minutes. No injuries were reported, but the home was deemed uninhabitable. The family who lived at the home was out shopping, the department said.
The cause was not immediately known.

Woman, 24, shot in Bronzeville drive- by
A woman was wounded in a Bronzeville neighborhood drive- by shooting Thursday evening on the South Side.
The 24- year- old told investigators she was driving north about 5 p. m. in the 4500 block of South King Drive when a dark- colored sedan with tinted windows pulled up alongside her and someone inside fired shots, Chicago Police said.
The woman was struck in the abdomen and took herself to Mercy Hospital, police said. Her condition had stabilized.

Family displaced from Evanston home by fire on Thanksgiving
A family was displaced by a fire in their home in north suburban Evanston on Thursday morning.
Crews responded to the fire in a large single- family home at 10: 10 a. m. in the 1000 block of Forest Avenue, according to the Evanston Fire Department.
Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the home.
The residents safely exited the home and no injuries were reported, according to the fire department.
The fire was extinguished, and the home will be saved, according to the fire department. However, the family will have to relocate for a couple of days.
