Two losses in row for No. 2 Arizona

Ben Emelogu scored 20 points, and SMU squandered an 11- point lead in the second half Thursday before recovering to upset No. 2 Arizona 66- 60 in a consolatio­n game of the Battle 4 Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas.

The Mustangs ( 5- 1) handed the Wildcats ( 3- 2) their second consecutiv­e loss despite shooting 31 percent. Arizona lost to North Carolina State 90- 84 in the first round of the tournament Wednesday.

Trevon Duval led a balanced attack with 22 points, and No. 1 Duke ( 6- 0) trailed early in the second half before rallying for a 99- 81 victory against pesky Portland State ( 4- 1) in the PK80 Invitation­al in Portland, Oregon.

Marvin Bagley III added 18 points and Grayson Allen 14 for the Blue Devils, who trailed by as many as eight points before taking control.

Jalen Brunson scored 25 points, and No. 5 Villanova ( 5- 0) used a 23- 2 burst bridging the first and second halves to erase a 15- point deficit on its way to an 85- 76 victory against Tennessee ( 3- 1) in the semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Luke Maye scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Joel Berry II added 18 points and No. 9 North Carolina ( 4- 0) put five players in double figures in a 102- 78 rout of Portland ( 2- 2) in the PK80 Invitation­al in Portland, Oregon.

Joe Sherburne and Arkel Lamar each made five three- pointers to carry Maryland- Baltimore County ( 2- 3) to an 84- 73 victory against Chicago State ( 2- 5) in Baltimore. Glen Burns led the Cougars with 15 points and seven assists.
