NOTICE OF PROPOSED REAL ESTATE TAX LEVY FOR THE VILLAGE OF MAYWOOD FOR YEAR 2017

A public hearing to approve a proposed real estate tax levy increase for the Village of Maywood for 2016 will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 7: 00 p. m. in the Village Council Room located at 125 South 5th Avenue, Maywood, Illinois 60153. Any person desiring to appear at the public hearing and present testimony to the taxing district may contact the Village Clerk at 40 East Madison Avenue, Maywood, Illinois 60153, phone number 708- 450- 6360. The corporate and special purpose real estate taxes extended or abated for 2016 were $ 18,891,952.00. The proposed corporate and special purpose real estate taxes to be levied for 2017 are $ 19,470,830.00. This represents a _ 3_% increase over the previous year. The real estate taxes extended for debt service and public building commission leases for 2016 were $ 2,753,200.00. The estimated real estate taxes to be levied for debt service and public building commission leases for 2017 are $ 2,754,400.00. This represents a .044% decrease over the previous year. The total real estate taxes extended or abated for 2016 were $ 21,645,152.00. The estimated total real estate taxes to be levied for 2017 are $ 22,225,230.00. This represents a 2.68% increase over the previous year. Any notice which includes any information not specified and required by this Article shall be an invalid notice. All hearings shall be open to the public. The corporate authorities of the Village of Maywood shall explain the reasons for the proposed increase and shall permit persons desiring to be heard an opportunity to present testimony at the December 5, 2017 public hearing within reasonable time limits as the corporate authority determines.
