Bellamy doesn’t regret argument

- BY PATRICK FINLEY Staff Reporter Email: pfinley@suntimes.com

Josh Bellamy doesn’t regret the argument he got into Monday, even though it contributed to the Bears’ decision to cut fellow receiver Tre McBride.

“I don’t feel bad for nothing,” he said Thursday.

Still, Bellamy tried to downplay the argument, which spilled into the hallway outside the receivers room and could be heard by nearby media members.

“Brotherly love, man,” Bellamy said. “Everybody, we love each other, man. Brothers get into it. You ever get into it with your brother?”

Bellamy was told that brotherly arguments don’t end with someone being fired the next day. McBride was waived after the argument.

“He didn’t get fired,” he said. “He’s just on . . . relieve.”

Bellamy said he’s trying to hold his teammates responsible. He said he’s frustrated by losing, but wasn’t letting that affect how he interacted with his teammates.

Demps back

Needing help at safety because of injuries, the Bears began Quintin Demps’ 21- day clock to return from injured reserve after a broken forearm. The move allows Demps to practice. Demps said Sunday was probably too soon to return to games.

“We got a lot of safeties that have been down,” said Demps, a team captain, “so I got to help out a little more than I have been.”

The Bears called upon another familiar face to help with depth, signing Chris Prosinski, who they cut with an injury designation at the end of training camp.

The Bears practiced Thursday without safety Deon Bush, who hurt his knee in practice Wednesday, and starter Adrian Amos, who injured his hamstring Sunday. DeAndre Houston- Carson, primarily a special teamer, sat out with an ankle injury.

Demps’ return to practice means the Bears, as expected, won’t bring receiver Kevin White off IR.

Houston back

Lamarr Houston said it wasn’t awkward to return less than three months after the Bears cut him.

“Out there at practice it felt like I had never left,” said the outside linebacker, who was claimed Tuesday after being waived by the Texans.” So hopefully I’ll just get back into the swing of things.”

Coach John Fox said Houston, who led the Bears in sacks two years ago, brings experience to a position group in need of help since Leonard Floyd went on IR with a knee injury last week.

“We were light since losing Leonard, so he became available and we snatched him up,” Fox said.

This and that

Outside linebacker Isaiah Irving did not practice after hurting his knee Wednesday in practice. Fox said neither Irving nor Bush had serious injuries.

Guard Josh Sitton ( concussion) returned to practice, but was limited, as was cornerback Bryce Callahan ( knee).

Inside linebacker Danny Trevathan ( calf ) practiced in full for the first time since Week 8.
