Bryant breaks Cowboys record in win over Skins

-

Dak Prescott threw two touchdown passes, including a franchise record- breaker to Dez Bryant, and the Cowboys finally won without suspended star running back Ezekiel Elliott, beating the visiting Redskins 38- 14 on Thursday night.

Prescott, last year’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, shook off a hand injury and found Bryant on a 13- yard leaping grab in the end zone for the 2014 All- Pro’s first score in six games and 72nd of his career, one more than Hall of Famer Bob Hayes.

The Cowboys ( 6- 6) started quickly thanks to three first- half turnovers and four overall by the Redskins ( 5- 7) and kept it going after halftime with a 21- 7 scoring edge after getting outscored 72- 6 in the second half of three consecutive losses without Elliott.

Alfred Morris, Elliott’s replacement during the six- game suspension for alleged domestic violence, had 127 yards rushing and a clinching touchdown.

Eagles’ Jenkins won’t raise fist

Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins does not plan to protest during the national anthem before Sunday’s game at the Seahawks.

Jenkins revealed his intention after the NFL and the Players Coalition, which Jenkins co- founded, joined in a partnership that calls for the league to contribute $ 89 million over seven years to proj- ects dealing with criminal justice reform, law enforcement/ community relations and education.

Browns WR Gordon to start

Browns coach Hue Jackson said receiver Josh Gordon will start in his first game since December 21, 2014 when the Cleveland visits the Chargers on Sunday. He was officially placed on the active roster after being taken off the Commissioner Exempt List.

Gordon missed the entire 2015 and 2016 seasons due to suspensions for repeated violations of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Browns’ Peppers fined for hit

Browns rookie safety Jabrill Peppers was fined $ 24,000 by the NFL for his personal foul in Sunday’s loss to the Bengals. Peppers was flagged for striking Bengals receiver Josh Malone in the helmet area. Peppers, who plans to appeal, feels he delivered a blow to Malone’s chest and strongly disagrees with the call.

Manziel in the clear

Prosecutors in Dallas dismissed a 2016 misdemeanor domestic assault charge against Heisman Trophy- winning quarterback Johnny Manziel. The Browns cut him in March 2016 after two seasons of inconsistent play and off- the- field issues.
