With Osweiler at QB, Broncos win again

-

Brock Osweiler ran for one touchdown and threw for two more Thursday night to lead the Broncos past the Colts 25- 13 in Indianapolis.

Osweiler replaced injured Trevor Siemian in the first quarter and played his best football of the season.

The Broncos ( 5- 10) needed it. After ending an eightgame losing streak Sunday, they picked up their first road win since Dec. 4, 2016.

For the Colts ( 3- 11), it was more of the same. They blew an early 10- 0 lead and have now lost five in a row, the longest skid of coach Chuck Pagano’s six- year tenure.

Osweiler looked more like the player the Broncos envisioned when they drafted him in the second round in 2012 and had him fill in for an injured Peyton Manning during their 2015 Super Bowl season. He was 12- for- 17 with 194 yards and took the Broncos on three second- half scoring drives.

Colts tight end Brandon Williams suffered a concussion on an apparent helmetto- helmet hit by Broncos linebacker Deiontrez Mount on a punt. He was initially taken to a local hospital.

Browns’ GM points finger

New Browns general manager John Dorsey, hired last week to fix the floundering franchise, harshly criticized the team’s previous football leader, Sashi Brown, saying he failed to give coach Hue Jackson good players.

“You’ve got to get a guy like that players,” Dorsey said in an interview on WKNR- AM ( 850), one of the team’s flagship radio stations. “And you know what? I’ll come straight out with it. The guys who were here be- fore, that system, they didn’t get real players. . . . There it is, so that’s the truth- teller in this thing. And I’m going to do my darnedest to get Hue players.”

Peterson done for season

Cardinals running back Adrian Peterson, who started the season with the Saints, will finish the season on injured reserve because of a neck injury he suffered Nov. 26, ESPN reported. He had already missed the Cardinals’ last two games.

Apple dinged for tweeting

Giants cornerback Eli Apple has been fined an undisclosed amount for tweeting during the team’s loss to the Cowboys last week, according to ESPN. He was inactive with a hip/ back injury and on the sideline.
