1 KILLED ,1 WOUNDED IN GROCERY SHOOTING

A man was killed and another person was wounded in a shooting Tuesday morning inside a west suburban grocery store.

Officers responded just after 11 a. m. to a grocery store in the 1100 block of Madison Street in Maywood for a report of a male and female shot inside, according to a statement from Maywood police.

Both victims were transporte­d to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where the man was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

He was identified as 37- year- old Anthony Morris of Maywood, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The female was still being treated at Loyola, police said. The shooter left the area in a vehicle, police said. The motive for the shooting was not known. Francesca Gattuso

Man dies after crashing into median on I- 294

A man died after crashing his vehicle into a concrete median late Friday in northwest suburban Rosemont.

William C. Hines, 57, was heading south on I- 294 near Balmoral Avenue at 11: 52 p. m. when he failed to navigate a curve and struck a concrete median wall, according to Illinois State Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Hines, an Elmhurst resident, was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he died at 12: 58 a. m. Saturday, according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Sunday found he died of blunt force injuries to the chest from a motor vehicle striking a fixed object, and his death was ruled an accident. Sun- TimesWire

Police: South Side man sent ‘ lewd’ texts to 15- year- old girl

A South Side man has been charged with sending lewd text messages to a 15- year- old girl.

Eric Gultney, 38, has been charged with a felony count of indecent solicitati­on/ criminal sexual assault, according to Chicago Police.

Gultney sent lewd text messages to a 15- year- old girl, police said. He was arrested at 9: 10 p. m. Friday in the 8100 block of South Blackstone.

Gultney, who lives in the Avalon Park neighborho­od, has been placed under electronic monitoring, according to Cook County sheriff’s office records. Sun- TimesWire

Blue Island man dies after being hit on S. W. Side

A 51- year- old man died one day after he was struck by a vehicle Friday night on the Southwest Side.

William Strenk was crossing the street in the 8500 block of South Cicero Avenue at 10: 47 p. m. when he was struck by a southbound vehicle, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Strenk, a resident of south suburban Blue Island, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 7: 49 p. m. Saturday, according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Monday found Strenk died of multiple injuries from being struck by a motor vehicle, and his death was ruled an accident.

Man released without charges after buttocks bruised by bullet

A man was released without charges after his buttocks were bruised when a bullet struck and got lodged in his wallet Sunday night in a West Side shooting.

The 19- year- old told officers he was walking into his home about 11 p. m. in the 3900 block of West Monroe when two males started shooting at him, according to Chicago Police.

He had a gun and returned fire, police said. He realized he was injured and was treated at Norwegian American Hospital, where he was in good condition.

Police initially reported that the man didn’t have a valid concealed carry permit for his gun, and charges were pending. As of Tuesday morning, he had been released without charges. Additional details were not provided. Sun- TimesWire

Man, 30, shot at Dress 2 Impress store in Dolton

A man was shot at a clothing store last week in south suburban Dolton.

The shooting happened about 8: 15 p. m. Thursday at Dress 2 Impress at 1011 E. Sibley Boulevard, according to Dolton police.

The 30- year- old was struck multiple times and taken to a hospital in serious condition, police said. One of the vehicles involved in the shooting was described as a newer model SUV.
