McIntosh returns, but Wildcats fall
Bryant McIntosh returned to the Northwestern lineup froma one- game injury absence, but Northwestern lost to host Penn State 78- 63 on Friday.
McIntosh finished with 18 points for the Wildcats ( 10- 7, 1- 3 Big Ten), who trailed for most of the game.
Lamar Stevens set a Bryce Jordan Center record with 14 field goals and scored 16 of his career- high 30 points in the first half to lead the Nittany Lions ( 12- 5, 2- 2).
Penn State made 71 percent of its field goals in the first half to take a 41- 34 lead.
Corey Sanders scored 23 points on 10- of- 19 shooting to give Rutgers ( 11- 6, 1- 3 Big Ten) a 64- 60 win over visiting Wisconsin ( 9- 8, 2- 2). Sanders scored with 1: 47 left then added a three- pointer with under aminute to go for a 58- 53 lead.
Minnesota star Reggie Lynch has been suspended indefinitely after an alleged violation of the school’s sexual- misconduct policy after a second woman accused him of assault.
Indiana forward De’Ron Davis suffered a lower leg injury during practice and is out indefinitely.
NBA Rose could return soon for Cavs
Cavaliers guard Derrick Rose, who has been out of the lineup for nearly two months with a left ankle injury, said “there’s a chance” he will return during his team’s current five- game road trip.
Hall of Famer Julius Erving fell ill during the 76ers’ 114- 78 victory over the visiting Pistons and was taken to a hospital. There was no immediate update on his condition.
HOCKEY Pirri nets hat trick inWolves’ win
Teemu Pulkkinen scored 49 seconds into overtime to lead theWolves to a 4- 3 victory over the Manitoba Moose at Allstate Arena. With the win, the Wolves pushed their point streak to 13 games. Brandon Pirri and Manitoba’s Buddy Robinson each had a hat trick.
Trent Frederic scored four times in leading the United States to a 9- 3 victory over the Czech Republic in the world junior championship bronze- medal game.
Rangers forward Chris Kreider will undergo surgery to have a portion of a rib removed after a blood clot was discovered in his right arm. He will be out indefinitely.

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson declared for the NFL draft after a record- setting college career that included the 2016 Heisman Trophy. Also, USC running back Ronald Jones II will skip his senior season and enter the draft. Marc Leishman shot a 6- under 67 for a one- shot lead in the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua, Hawaii. Brian Harman and Jhonattan Vegas were one shot back and Dustin Johnson was two shots behind.
Winfield native Bradie Tennell earned a national title and almost certainly a spot on the Olympic team after a near- perfect free skate at the U. S. Figure Skating Championships in San Jose, California. MiraiNagasu was second and Karen Chen third.
