Wildcats enjoy a laugher against visiting Gophers

Scottie Lindsey, who is averaging 14.2 points, scored 22 points as Northweste­rn ( 11- 7, 2- 3 Big Ten routed Minnesota 83- 60 on Wednesday at Allstate Arena in Rosemont. Dererk Pardon totaled 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Bryant McIntosh added 11 points and 16 assists for the Wildcats, who led 43- 21 at halftime and made 11 of 24 three- point shots.

McIntosh’s assist total broke the school record of 14 set by Patrick Baldwin in 1992.

Dupree McBrayer led the Gophers ( 13- 5, 2- 3) with 14 points.

Loyola 68, Illinois State 61

Aundre Jackson scored 15 points, Clayton Custer added 14 and Marques Townes 12 to lift the Ramblers ( 13- 4, 3- 2 Missouri Valley) over the Redbirds ( 9- 8, 3- 2) in Normal. The Ramblers snapped a six- game skid against ISU.

UIC 84, Green Bay 73

Dikembe Dixson scored 26 points and Godwin Boahen and Marcus Ottey added 16 each to lift the Flames ( 7- 10, 2- 2 Horizon) over the Phoenix ( 7- 12, 2- 4) at the UIC Pavilion.

Michigan State 76, Rutgers 72

Miles Bridges didn’t score until there was 7: 43 left in regulation and finished with just 11 points, but the No. 4 Spartans ( 16- 2, 4- 1 Big Ten) held off the visiting Scarlet Knights ( 11- 7, 1- 4) in overtime. Michigan State’s Nick Ward scored 17 points, Jaren Jackson added 16.

Before the game, Rutgers gave coach Steve Pikiell a three- year contract extension through the 2023- 24 season worth a guaranteed $ 15.05 million.

Ga. Tech 60, Notre Dame 53

Josh Okogie scored 17 points as the host Yellow Jackets ( 9- 2, 2- 1 ACC) snapped the Irish’s fivegame winning streak. Martinas Geben led the Irish ( 13- 4, 3- 1) with 16 points, while John Mooney and T. J. Gibbs had 11 apiece.

Texas sophomore guard Andrew Jones has leukemia and has started treatment. Jones was the Longhorns’ leading scorer before he was sidelined by a broken wrist. He played sparingly in his return after complainin­g of low energy and was sent for tests.

Minnesota senior center Reggie Lynch, 23, “categorica­lly denies” allegation­s of sexual assault lodged against him by two women, claiming he never had sexual contact with either one, his lawyer said.

St. John’s sophomore guard Marcus LoVett ( knee), who played his senior year at Morgan Park, will miss the rest of thie season.

Indiana center De’Ron Davis ( Achilles tendon) will miss the rest of the season.

Suspended Louisville freshman Brian Bowen Jr. has signed to play with South Carolina. The 6- 7 forward will sit out the next two semesters, due to transfer rules.
