TEEN KILLED IN CRASH INVOLVING SNOWPLOW

Chauncey Tucker, 15, was killed in a crash involving an Illinois Department of Transporta­tion snowplow that injured two other people early Friday in south suburban South Holland.

Troopers responded to the crash between the plow and another vehicle at 2: 41 a. m. at Woodlawn Avenue and 162nd Place in South Holland, according to Illinois State Police.

An autopsy Saturday found Tucker died of multiple injuries from the crash and his death was ruled an accident.

Detectives were investigat­ing whether alcohol was a factor, state police said.

26 detainees charged with jail officer attacks

More than two dozen maximum- security detainees have been charged with attacking staff at the Cook County Jail in the past month.

Between Dec. 12 and Jan. 12, 26 detainees were charged with aggravated battery to staff, according to a statement from the Cook County Sheriff ’s Office.

Sheriff ’s office spokeswoma­n Sophia Ansari said the aggravated battery charges include both physical attacks against officers as well as inmates throwing objects at them. She said the jail usually sees about 20 such incidents per month on average.

2 shot outside mall

Two women were wounded in a shooting Saturday evening outside a shopping mall in west suburban North Riverside.

Police responded at 5: 46 p. m. to a report of shots fired in the southwest parking lot of North Riverside Park Mall, according to police.

Two women had been shot and were taken to local hospitals for treatment, police said. The male suspect had fled the scene before police arrived. Officers have determined that the shooting was domestic in nature, police said. Sun- Times Wire

Teen shot in Rogers Park

A 16- year- old boy was shot Saturday night in the Rogers Park neighborho­od on the North Side. He was sitting in his vehicle at 8: 24 p. m. in the 6700 block of North Hermitage when an unknown male approached and fired shots, police said. The boy suffered multiple wounds, but his condition stabilized, police said.

Woman charged after using stun gun to hold up stores

T’Keyah A. Herbert, 23, was charged with armed robbery after allegedly holding up two stores with a stun gun and stealing from a third store within the last month.

9th cold death of season

A person found dead Friday afternoon on the Near West Side is Cook County’s ninth cold- related death of the season.

The person, who has yet to be identified, was found in the 400 block of North Union.

An autopsy Saturday found the person died of hypothermi­a due to cold exposure, according to the medical examiner’s office.
