John Hancock Center getting new name: report

Come Tuesday, Chicago’s fourth- tallest skyscraper will have a new name, according to a report published Monday evening.

The iconic John Hancock Center will be known by its address, 875 N. Michigan Ave., until the building’s owner secures a long- term naming rights deal, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Owners of the 1,128- foot building asked that the building’s name and insignia be removed effective immediatel­y, the Tribune reported.

The nearly 50- year- old building, one of the most recognizab­le in the city’s skyline, was named after the developer, the John Hancock Insurance Company, which was acquired by Manulife Financial in 2004.

Chicago man dies in Wyo. snowmobile crash

JACKSON, Wyo.— Authoritie­s said a Chicago man was killed in a snowmobile crash during a guided trip in northweste­rn Wyoming.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reported Justin Heyman, 50, died after crashing into a gorge after he and anotherman became separated from their group on Togwotee Pass Friday. The other man suffered a knee injury and was buried in snow about half an hour before the group could dig him out. AP

Building collapses in fire

A factory building collapsed in a fire early Monday on the West Side. Firefighte­rs responded about 12: 50 a. m. to the fire at the building near Lake and Cicero, according to the Chicago Fire Department. The building collapsed after 1 a. m. By 2: 14 a. m., the fire had been extinguish­ed, the Fire Department said. No injuries were reported.

Man shot in Logan Square

A 33- year- old man was shot early Monday in the Logan Square neighborho­od on the Northwest Side.

At 2: 51 a. m., he was walking on the sidewalk in the 2800 block of North Whipple when someone fired shots from a Dodge Caravan, according to Chicago Police.

The man took himself to Illinois Masonic Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the buttocks, police said. His condition was stabilized. Sun- TimesWire

Southwest says Midway operations back to normal

Southwest Airlines officials said flights were operating close to normal at Midway Airport Monday after the airline canceled hundreds of them Sunday because of a shortage of de- icing fluid. AP
