Cousins likely to become highest- paid QB in league
ESPN reported Tuesday that former Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins plans to sign a fully guaranteed threeyear, $ 84 million contract Thursday with the Vikings. The landmark deal would make Cousins the highestpaid quarterback in the league at $ 28 million a year.
‘‘ No final decisions have been made,’’ said Mike McCartney, Cousins’ agent. ‘‘ The plan is to visit Minnesota first. That’s all we can say right now.’’
Cousins, 29, has been one of the NFL’s most productive quarterbacks since becoming the Redskins’ full- time starter in 2015. During that time, he has ranked fourth in passing yards, sixth in passer rating and eighth in touchdown passes.
Report: Glennon to Cards
Former Bears quarterback Mike Glennon will head west to be a backup again.
Glennon, whom the Bears can’t cut officially until the start of the free- agency period Wednesday, plans to sign with the Cardinals, NFL Network reported. He’ll back up former Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford, who reportedly agreed to a one- year, $ 20 million contract with a $ 20 million option earlier in the day.
Glennon signed a threeyear, $ 45 million contract with the Bears a year ago and will leave after making $ 18.5 million for four uninspiring starts.
