The Bears are expected to resign cornerback Marcus Cooper to a one- year deal worth $ 2.5 million, according to ESPN.

Cooper, who visited the Cardinals on Friday, signed a three- year, $ 16 million deal last offseason but was cut by the Bears earlier this month after one disappointing season. He was best- known for slowing down his gait and fumbling at the 1- yard line while returning a blocked field goal against the Steelers.

The 28- year- old, who had three pass deflections and four starts last year, figures to back up starters Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara. Cooper also can help on special teams. He played 35 percent of the Bears’ snaps on kicks last year.

Cooper hasn’t had an interception since picking off four passes with the Cardinals in 2016. He was drafted by the 49ers in the seventh round of the 2013 draft. He ended up with the Chiefs, with whom he spent three seasons before being dealt to the Cardinals.

Ex- Bears TE Bennett retires

Martellus Bennett, who set the Bears’ single- season receiving record for a tight end before being traded to the Patriots and winning a Super Bowl, is retiring after 10 seasons.

On Friday night, he posted on Twitter that he had “decided to move on from the world of football and into the fantastical and wondrous world of creativity. I’m beginning what I believe to bemy life’s work.” Bennett owns The Imagination Agency, which produces cartoons and children’s books.

He caught 90 passes for 916 yards in 2014, earning a Pro Bowl berth, but never got the raise he wanted from new general manager Ryan Pace.

Bennett signed a three- year deal with the Packers last year, but he was cut after seven games after the team accused him of failing to disclose a medical condition. He played two games for the Patriots before going on injured reserve.
