Ex- Sox Belle arrested

Former White Sox slugger Albert Belle was arrested during a spring- training game Sunday in Scottsdale, Arizona, according to Fox 10 Phoenix.

Belle, 51, was arrested on two counts of indecent exposure, one count of DUI and one count of extreme DUI. In 1990, his second season in the majors, he spent 10weeks being treated for alcoholism.

After spending his first eight seasons with the Indians, Belle signed a five- year, $ 55 million deal with the Sox, making him the highest- paid player at the time. He played only two seasons before invoking a clause in his contract that made him a free agent.

MLB Bourjos lands with Braves

The Braves signed former Cubs outfielder Peter Bourjos to a major- league contract worth $1 million, according to major league trade rumors. com. The Cubs released Bourjos on Friday after signing him to a minorleagu­e deal.

Cardinals pitcher-Adam Wainwright will start the season on the disabled list because of a strained left hamstring. Rookie Jack Flaherty will begin the year in the rotation as the fifth starter.

BASKETBALL Kerr: Curry out 1st round

Warriors coach Steve Kerr announced that guard Steph Curry will miss the first round of the NBA playoffs after he was diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee Saturday. The postseason begins April 14.

But Curry said he plans to prove Kerr wrong. Curry suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain in the first round of the 2016 playoffs and missed only four games.

Former U- High and Illinois State player Zeke Upshaw remained hospitaliz­ed in critical condition after collapsing on the court Saturday in a G League game in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

His mother, Jewel, told WOOD- TV that he’s fighting for his life and that the “next 24 hours are critical.”
