Mets make it 2- for- 2 against Cardinals

Yoenis Cespedes and Travis d’Arnaud hit home runs, and Todd Frazier drove in three runs to lead the host Mets to a 6- 2 victory Saturday against the Cardinals.

Jacob DeGrom allowed one run and four hits and struck out seven — including five of the first nine Cardinals he faced — in 5‰ innings for the Mets, who are 2- 0 for the first time since 2013 under new manager Mickey Callaway.

Matt Carpenter homered for the Cardinals, who finalized their oneyear, $ 14 million deal with free- agent closer Greg Holland.

Brewers 7, Padres 3

Christian Yelich matched his career high with five hits and scored three runs, Lorenzo Cain had three hits and two RBI and Travis Shaw drove in three runs to fuel the visiting Brewers past the Padres.

The Brewers completed a sweep of the season- opening three- game series — the teams have a rare Sunday off — and improved to 3- 0 for the first time since starting 5- 0 in 2006.

Nationals 13, Reds 7

Adam Eaton had a career- high five hits — including a homer — scored four times and drove in three runs, and Brian Goodwin hit his first career grand slam to power the Nationals past the host Reds.

Matt Adams added a three- run homer and Trea Turner a solo shot for the Nationals, who have won their first two games under new manager Dave Martinez, the Cubs’ former bench coach.

Blue Jays 5, Yankees 3

Yangervis Solarte led off the eighth inning with a tiebreakin­g homer, and Kevin Pillar added an insurance run by stealing second, third and home in the inning to fuel the Blue Jays past the visiting Yankees.

After Solarte had given the Blue Jays the lead, Pillar hit a one- out single and swiped his way to third. He then broke for the plate, and Yankees reliever Dellin Betances threw wildly to the backstop.

Twins 6, Orioles 2

Kyle Gibson pitched six no- hit innings, and the visiting Twins held the Orioles without a hit until Jonathan Schoop’s single with two outs in the eighth on their way to victory. Gibson has won six decisions in a row dating to last season.
