Rose wants to return to T- wolves
Former Bulls star Derrick Rose has made it clear he would like to return to the Timberwolves next season.
“I would love to be back,” Rose told the Pioneer Press on Wednesday.
And it seems Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau, who coached Rose in Chicago for five seasons, is happy with what Rose has accomplished in his eight games with Minnesota.
“He’s supertalented,” Thibodeau said. “And that’s why we picked him up. He’s played very well for us.”
Rose will be a free agent again this offseason. He averaged 6.3 points and 1.4 assists per game with the Timberwolves.
The Timberwolves ended the NBA’s longest- running playoff drought, beating the Nuggets 112106 in overtime in the first finalday play- in game in the league in 21 years. Jimmy Butler scored 31 points.
The Sixers won their 16th consecutive game, thumping the Bucks 130- 95 to clinch the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Paul George scored 40 points, Russell Westbrook clinched a triple- double average for the second straight season and the Thunder defeated the Grizzlies 137- 123.
MLB Brawl games rule the day
Rockies star Nolan Arenado charged the mound after a fastball from Padres starter Luis Perdomo sailed behind him, setting off a wild brawl that resulted in five ejections during a testy series at Coors Field. The night before, Rockies reliever Scott Oberg hit San Diego center fielder Manuel Margot in the ribs.
Tyler Austin rushed the mound after being hit by a pitch from Red Sox reliever Joe Kelly, triggering a bench- clearing brawl as the Yankees ended the Red Sox’ nine- game winning streak with a 10- 7 victory. Benches emptied twice in the game, which saw a trio of ejections.
Marlins lefty Jarlin Garcia was pulled after pitching six hitless innings in his first majorleague start, and the Mets took advantage of a strong season debut by Zack Wheeler to beat the Marlins 4- 1 for their eighth straight victory.
Tigers pitcher Jordan Zimmermann was taken to the hospital with a bruised jaw after he was hit by a line drive off the bat of Cleveland’s Jason Kipnis.
STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS Crosby has hat trick in Pens’ win
Sidney Crosby had his third career postseason hat trick, Evgeni Malkin added a highlightreel goal and the two- time defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins opened the playoffs with a 7- 0 victory over the Flyers.
Marc- Andre Fleury registered his 11th career playoff shutout and Shea Theodore scored the game’s lone goal as the Golden Knights won their first playoff game in franchise history, defeating the Kings 1- 0 in Game 1.
Defenseman Joe Morrow broke a tie with 6: 13 left and the Jets beat the Wild 3- 2 in Game 1 for the first playoff victory in franchise history.
