Montañez de Valdez, Gloria V.

Age 84, was born in Tlaltenango, Zacatecas, Mexico on October 23, 1933, and passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 11, 2018. She was the daughter of Martín and Cenovia Montañez, and the eldest of two children. Her sister, Ana Maria, is deceased. She was pursuing a life in the service of the Catholic Church when she met and then married Gilberto Valdez Sr. on June 18, 1955. They migrated to the USA and settled on Chicago’s South Side. Together they had six children, Gilberto Jr., Anna Gonzalez, Diana ( Jack) Buechner, Yolanda, Javier ( Gina), Alicia ( Arnold) Burian, four grandchildren, Michael, Bobby, Christina, and Jessica, and two great- grandchildren, Anthony and Elias. They celebrated over 63 years of marriage together, and she devoted her life to raising her children. Gloria loved and cherished her family, and enjoyed spending time at her churches, Our Lady of Guadalupe and Immaculate Conception. She always had a gentle, kind, peaceful, and compassionate spirit with everyone she knew. Gloria will be truly missed— she was a light to all who met her.
