Avs chase Rinne, top Preds

Nathan MacKinnon scored twice, and the host Avalanche tallied four times on their first 15 shots to chase Pekka Rinne en route to a 5- 3 victory Monday against the Predators in Game 3 of their first- round playoff series.

Blake Comeau, Gabriel Bourque and Gabriel Landeskog also scored for the Avalanche, who opened a 4- 0 lead 4: 25 into the second on their way to cutting their series deficit to 2- 1. Ryan Johansen, Colton Sissons and Austin Watson scored for the Predators.

† Stefan Noesen scored the tiebreakin­g goal with 6: 55 left, and the Devils added two emptynette­rs in the last minute to cap a four- goal third period that gave them a 5- 2 victory against the visiting Lightning. The Lightning still lead the series 2- 1. † Patrick Marleau scored twice, Frederik Andersen made 40 saves and the host Maple Leafs climbed back into their first- round playoff series against the Bruins with a 4- 2 victory. The Bruins still lead the series 2- 1.

Vikes give Kendricks extension

The Vikings signed linebacker Eric Kendricks to a multiyear contract extension. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Kendricks, who has one year left on his rookie contract, has led the Vikings in tackles in each of his first three seasons, including a career- high 136 last season. † Browns receiver Josh Gordon will make $ 790,000 next season after signing with the team as an exclusive- rights free agent.

Gordon returned to the Browns and played in five games last season after an NFL suspension and a lengthy rehab stint for drug and alcohol use. He has played in a combined 10 games since 2013. † Former Steelers linebacker

James Harrison, a five- time Pro Bowler and the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2008, retired at 39. He briefly retired in September 2014 before being lured back that season.

† The Broncos released running back C. J. Anderson, even though he ran for a career- high 1,007 yards last season. The Dolphins and Patriots reportedly are interested in his services.

Kyle Busch prevails at Bristol

Kyle Busch passed Kyle Larson with five laps left and went on to win the weather- delayed NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol ( Tennessee) Motor Speedway. Busch has won seven races at the track.
