Nearly 17 months after having surgery on his injured right shoulder, Colts quarterback

Andrew Luck threw a football in practice Tuesday for the first time since being shut down last October.

Luck, whowas using a collegesize football, made 20- 25 throws before finishing with a lob of about 20 yards.

Luck says he will “absolutely” be playing in the Week 1 opener against the Bengals.

Owner Jim Irsay said he believes Luck will have “no limitations” when training camp starts in roughly seven weeks.

A St. Louis jury ordered the Rams to pay former running back Reggie Bush $ 12.5 million for a severe knee injury suffered at St. Louis’ domed stadium in 2015, the team’s final season before relocating to Los Angeles. Attorneys for the Rams say they plan to file a motion for a new trial. Bush was playing for the 49ers when he was injured.

The Raiders released backup quarterback Christian Hackenberg, three weeks after acquiring him from the Jets for a conditional seventh- round choice in 2019. With the move, the Raiders won’t send a 2019 draft pick to the Jets.

All- Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald is not attending the Rams’ mandatory minicamp while he continues his lengthy quest for a lucrative newcontract.

OdellBeckhamJr. has been cleared to practice although the star Giants receiver did little work at the opening of the first mandatory minicamp under new coach Pat Shurmur.

Panthers four- time AllPro middle linebacker Luke Kuechly says he should be ready for full contact when training camp begins following offseason surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder.
