Goal in injury time lifts England in Cup

-

Harry Kane scored two goals, including one on a header in injury time, to give England a 2- 1 victory Monday against Tunisia in a Group G game at the World Cup in Volgograd, Russia.

Standing alone at the far post, Kane guided a headed pass from Harry Maguire into the net. He had put England ahead in the 11th minute with a strike from close range after Tunisia goalie Moez Hassen had saved a powerful header from John Stones. Tunisia tied the score when

Ferjani Sassi converted a penalty in the 35th. The penalty was awarded after Kyle Walker caught Fakhreddine Ben Youssef with his arm.

† Romelu Lukaku scored two goals in a six- minute span midway through the second half after Dries Mertens had broken a scoreless tie in the 47th minute, and Belgium earned a 3- 0 victory against Panama in Group G action in Sochi, Russia.

† Andreas Granqvist converted a penalty kick in the 65th minute after a video review determined Viktor Claesson had been fouled in the area, and the goal stood up in Sweden’s 1- 0 victory against South Korea in Group F in Novgorod, Russia.

MLB Pirates shut out Brewers

Trevor Williams allowed one hit in seven innings, and two relievers completed a twohitter as the Pirates blanked the visiting Brewers 1- 0. The result dropped the Brewers percentage points behind the Cubs atop the National League Central.

† The Nationals acquired closer Kelvin Herrera from the Royals for three minor- leaguers — third baseman Kelvin Gutierrez, outfielder Blake Perkins and right- hander Yohanse

Morel. Herrera is 1- 1 with 14 saves and a 1.05 ERA this season.
