Carter solid in Bulls’ loss

Wendell Carter Jr. had 23 points on 9-for13 shooting and six rebounds, but the Bulls fell to 1-2 at Summer League in Las Vegas with a 101-93 loss to the Hawks on Tuesday.

Chandler Hutchison had eight points and eight assists for the Bulls. Antonio Blakeney added 23 points.

The Hawks’ Trae Young finally got his shot going. He scored 24 points and was 7-for-13 from the three-point line. The Hawks took over in the third quarter, outscoring the Bulls 30-21.

WNBA

Sky can’t hang with Aces

Diamond DeShields had a team-high 15 points, but the Sky suffered a 98-74 loss to the Las Vegas Aces at Wintrust Arena. The Sky (7-13) could cut the deficit no closer than 17 points in the fourth.

Kayla McBride scored 12 of her 18 points in the second half to lead the Aces.

Lightning lock up Kucherov

The Lightning signed forward Nikita Kucherov to an eight-year, $76 million extension that kicks in for the 2019-20 season.

The two-time All- Star had 39 goals and 100 points with a plus-15 rating last season. He was third in the NHL in points, sixth in assists and tied for ninth in goals.

† The Wolves will face the Grand Rapids Griffins in the season opener on Oct. 13 at Allstate Arena.

Bills RB McCoy denies allegation­s

Georgia police and the NFL are investigat­ing a home invasion at a house owned by Bills running back LeSean McCoy in which his estranged girlfriend was allegedly beaten and robbed of jewelry. Police have not named any suspects.

McCoy denied allegation­s posted on social media accusing him of hurting his former girlfriend.
